Change the words in a PDF, not just cover them.
Tap a paragraph and type. The cursor picks up the font, size and style that are already there, the text reflows onto the next line, and the lines below make room.

“ñ” isn’t in this PDF’s Calibri. It will be added from a matching font on this device.
The editing you expect from a document.
The PDF’s own font
The format bar shows the real font name and size where the cursor sits. What you type inherits it. Bold or italic come from the same family when the file has them.
Text that flows
Paragraphs rewrap as you type, keep their justification and indents, and the lines below in the same column move down or up to fit.
Bold, size, colour, spacing
Bold, italic, underline, superscript, size, colour, highlight, alignment and line spacing. On Mac, a full Format menu with the usual shortcuts.
Lists and new blocks
Numbered lists renumber. Return splits a paragraph. Add a new text block anywhere, styled like the nearest paragraph, and move or resize it.
Find and replace
Across the document, keeping the formatting of each match.
Edit images too
Replace, move, resize or remove the pictures inside the PDF.
When a letter is missing, you hear about it while typing.
PDFs often carry only the letters they use. Type a “ñ” into a font that never had one and some editors swap the font without a word.
Keepsign warns as you type, says which font it will borrow the letter from, and checks every new line before it saves: the page is re-read as it will be written, and if anything doesn’t match, the change isn’t applied and you’re told why.
Editing a page that someone signed changes what they signed. Keepsign tells you before you save, as it does for every change that would break a signature.
Where it works best
Letters, contracts, forms, reports and CVs edit cleanly. Some PDFs aren’t really text: scans (run OCR first), text turned into outlines, or magazine layouts with every letter placed separately. Keepsign marks paragraphs it can’t edit with a dotted frame and tells you why when you tap them.
Questions
Can I edit PDF text on iPhone?
Yes. The editor is the same on iPhone, iPad and Mac. On iPhone and iPad the format bar sits above the keyboard.
Is it better to convert the PDF to Word and back?
For a few changes, edit in place: the layout stays exactly as it was. For rewriting whole sections, convert to Word, edit there, and make a new PDF.
Does editing keep the rest of the file intact?
Yes. Only the edited page’s content changes, and it’s written as an addition at the end of the file. The receipt lists the page as an expected change.
